Lion Fight bolsters female ranks with french star Anissa MEKSEN
Lion Fight Promotions has added another rising star to its women’s ranks with the signing of mega-talented French bantamweight Anissa Meksen.
The 28-year-old native of Paris is expected to make her debut this fall.
Meksen is an 11-time world champion, earning belts under several different banners including the WBC and Enfusion Reality. In fact, it was in Enfusion Reality where Meksen registered one of her biggest career wins to date as she scored a second-round knockout victory over Iman Barlow in the final. Barlow was also just signed by Lion Fight and will make her debut at Lion Fight 31 in September.
Her stellar 93-3 record is complemented by a number of awards including Fighter and Knockout of the Year honors in 2015.
The five-time European champion is eager to bring her talents to the Lion Fight ring and a whole new audience in North America.
“Lion Fight is a very big and famous organization in Muay Thai. I am very proud to be able to introduce myself,” said Meksen. “I have fought in many different countries but never in the United States and I want to have a big fight to introduce myself to the fans and try to win the title.”
Her coach Benoit Zede expects that fans will like what they see when Meksen enters the fray in Lion Fight’s quickly-deepening talent pool of female talent. All three of Lion Fight’s next live events will feature at least one women’s title fight including Lion Fight 30 coming up Friday, July 8th at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, when Antonina Shevchenko and Annabelle Gely clash for the lightweight crown.
“I think Lion Fight needs Anissa because she’s amazing and we need Lion Fight because it is the biggest Muay Thai organization in the U.S.,” said Zede.“Anissa is very fast, technical, and she has a good punch. Anissa can fight with everybody because she can adapt her style depending the opponent who we have.”
Meksen is confident she will display her best no matter who Lion Fight puts in front of her.
“I’m a fighter. I like the challenge. I never under-estimate my opponent. I prepare every fight with the same seriousness,” she said.
Tickets for Lion Fight 30 are available at www.foxwoods.com or by calling 800-200-2882 or by visiting the Foxwoods Box Offices.
Not only will the women’s lightweight title be up for grabs, but Sergio Wielzen will put his own lightweight belt on the line against France’s Arthur Meyer. Topping the card is a middleweight showdown between American sensation Ky Hollenbeck and Canadian standout Mark Holst.
The Lion Fight 30 main card will air live on AXS TV Fights with a special start time of 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. with commentary from renowned duo “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich.
